Philippines Vice President Leni Robredo will formally open and keynote the 13th Filipina Leadership Global Summit scheduled for August 21-24, 2016 at the Shangri-La Mactan in Cebu, Philippines. She will speak on how the Filipina Summit's 2016 theme: INFLUENCE. ACCELERATE. ACTION. complements her lifelong advocacy in service of the most vulnerable communities of Philippine society, particularly women in oppressive circumstances and indigenous people.

The annual summit is the leading forum of its kind in the Filipina global community. The Filipina Women’s Network’s global summit brings together Filipina women global leaders, influencers, thinkers and public figures for discussions, learning journeys, and kwentuhan strategies on how to succeed as multi-cultural business owners and career professionals. Limited registration for the summit still available here.

Highlights of the 2016 Filipina Summit:

  1. Recognition of the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World™ at a gala awards ceremony. The awardees were selected for changing the face of leadership in the global workplace, having reached status for outstanding work in their respective professions, industries and communities. The 2016 awardees are leaders from 11 countries: Australia, Belgium, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, the United States, and the Philippines. The Global FWN100™ award is unique-because the awardees are challenged to pay forward by femtoring (mentoring) in the global workplace. The Filipina Women’s Network facilitates this femtoring through its FemtorMatch program–coaching and role modeling for Filipina sisters in the diaspora – because when you educate a Filipina woman, you improve the world. The summit is designed primarily for US and Global FWN100™ awardees to ignite public and private partnerships and to reflect our conviction that the most powerful learning occurs through interaction and sharing of experiences, not from books or speeches.

  2. Book launch of DISRUPT 2.0. Filipina Women: Daring to Lead - Filipina Women's Network's 2nd book on Filipina women leadership in Cebu on August 22, 2016 sponsored by the University of Cebu and in Manila on August 26, 2016 sponsored by the Asian Institute of Management. 35 select authors who are U.S. and Global FWN100™ awardees wrote about 1) Life disruptions; 2) Workplace disruptions initiated; 3) Leadership competencies developed for oneself, for leading others, for leading organizations, and 4) Legacy building for next generation leaders. The book cover was designed by Lucille Tenazas, Global FWN100™ '13, AIGA medalist, multi-awarded design educator and practitioner based in New York City. Pre-order your autographed copy here.

  3. Pinay Speed Femtoring - FWN's give-back to the young Pinay community of Cebu. A networking event at which femtees / protégées can ask experienced professionals (Femtors) those "everything-you've-always-wanted-to-know-but-didn't-know-whom-to-ask" questions. Femtees / protégées will have the opportunity to interact with up to 3-5 Global FWN100™ Awardees during the course of the event. Modeled after speed dating, speed femtoring is a relatively new concept that focuses on quick-hit information, time-efficient networking and the methodical pursuit of a femtor. It addresses many of the disadvantages of both informal and formal mentoring for women. Femtees can sign-up here if they are based in Cebu.
