Dear FWN Members,
Clara, Claire Joyce's mother, expressed a desire to have a Thanksgiving Mass to bless the closure of the Tempongko case. FWN is helping her make it happen.
As it turns out, there is a visiting priest from the Salesians of Don Bosco - his name is Fr. "Kim" Keith Michael T. Simbulan, SDB). Fr. Kim is a brother of TJ, one of our FWN V-Day volunteers, and he is available to say Mass on Friday, Dec 19, 7pm.
For those of you who participated and attended the V-Day shows last March, TJ played the violin during the two V-Day shows held at the Academy of Art University early this year.
I know this is last minute - instead of having the Mass at a church subject to a busy holiday schedule, Fr. Kim can say Mass in a private home.
The Thanksgiving Mass will have an ecumenical theme and Lissa Sobrepeña, one of our FWN members, has graciously opened her home to host Clara and the thanksgiving. Here's Lissa's address -
Lissa Sobrepeña
24 San Benito Way
San Francisco 94127
(I think Lisa's home is in the St. Francis of the Woods area?)
During the Mass, TJ will play the violin and he will be accompanied by a soloist (Ces) and Ces' husband (JM) will also play the piano.
We will celebrate with food and eggnog after the Mass! Please bring food and drink to share.
I hope you can stop by to join Clara and FWN at a solemn mass in memory of Claire Joyce, in thanksgiving of the efforts of the entire Domestic Violence community including the Filipino community to bring justice to Claire Joyce, and closure for Clara.
Thank you all and see you on Friday! Please RSVP by registering so we can plan on having enough seating at Mass.
Marily
