Second Lieutenant Karen Eve Mante, a native of Davao, is the first Filipina graduate of the Japan National Defense Academy. She took her oath before Philippine Ambassador to Japan Manuel Lopez at the Philippine Embassy, Tokyo, who administered the oath-taking and donning of rank of Second Lieutenant to Mante. She will be joining the Philippine Air Force.
Second Lieutenant Mante spent the 5 years of cadetship training in the Japan National Defense Academy. JNDA has produced officers for the Japanese Self-Defense Force since 1953. She will join the Philippine Air Force.
