CONGRATS! Dr. Jei Africa, U.S. FWN100™ '09, Receives Distinguished Humanitarian Contribution Award

Dr. Jei Africa, Director of the Office of Diversity and Equity, San Mateo County, was honored by the California Psychological Association with the Distinguished Humanitarian Contribution Award. The award honors a person whose voluntary and career efforts have directly and significantly improved the quality of life for a broad range and large number of persons in our society. The award is intended to highlight members of the psychology profession who transcend guild interests.

Dr. Jei Africa (U.S. FWN100™ '09) is one of the Tagalog-speaking licensed clinical psychologists who is also certified as a domestic violence and addiction counselor in the San Francisco-Bay Area. As an advocate for providing effective and quality services for the underserved and unserved population, especially Asians and Filipinos, Jei continues to work with different sectors of the community to educate them about health and mental health issues.  Jei is mindful of the role and influence of socio-cultural factors on how individuals conceptualize and make meaning of their experience, which in turn influences how they behave.
